When you walk through the souks of Marrakech, it’s impossible not to be drawn to the rhythm of mint tea being poured. From high above a silver teapot, streams of fragrant green tea cascade into waiting glasses. Foamy on top, sweet and aromatic below.
In Marrakech, tea isn’t just a drink. It’s a ritual of hospitality, generosity, and connection. And it’s the inspiration behind our Marrakech Green Chai, a vibrant blend of green tea, mint, and spices designed to bring that same warmth into your everyday ritual.
A City of Spices, Stories, and Tea
Marrakech, the "Red City" nestled at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, is a place where history lingers in every alleyway, and the scent of spices fills the air.
But above all, it is a city where tea is more than just a drink, it is a symbol of hospitality, a ritual of connection, and a tradition passed down through generations.
A Family’s Journey, A Tradition Preserved
My father was born in this magical city, where the rhythm of life was punctuated by the clinking of ornate teapots and the pouring of fragrant, steaming tea.
When our family made its way to Israel, we carried more than just memories with us. We carried traditions.
To this day, I brew tea in the very same delicate glasses my family brought from Morocco, each pour a tribute to the past, each sip a connection to home.
The Ritual of Moroccan Mint Tea
Moroccan tea culture is a fusion of history: Chinese green tea + North African mint + local customs.
Tea was introduced to Morocco in the 18th century, became a symbol of hospitality, and today is served multiple times a day. The tea is poured from a height to aerate it, create foam, and cool it slightly, a signature flourish in Moroccan homes.
It’s often served three times to guests. Each glass has its own symbolic flavor:
“The first is as gentle as life, the second as strong as love, the third as bitter as death.”
A Blend of Heritage and Flavor
Our Marrakech Green Chai is an homage to this tradition, a blend that bridges past and present.
We’ve taken the light, refreshing essence of classic Moroccan mint tea and infused it with bold chai spices, delicate green tea, and cooling spearmint and peppermint.
The result is a tea that is both familiar and exciting, grounding and uplifting, just like the tea my father once sipped in the heart of Marrakech.
